Ice Cream Cart - Before Hurricane Sandy arrivedBetter times in the shop before Hurricane Sandy arrived on October 29, 2012.

Ice Cream Cart - after the flood waters recededAnd this is how we found our beloved ice cream cart after the flood waters receded.  Much work ahead of us … and more to come.  A small business at the Jersey Shore that is fighting against all odds to rebuild. We purchased the building that was home to Gert’s Snacks & Spices on December 30, 2011 and spent the next six months in renovations. Gert’s Snacks & Spices was only opened for three months before Hurricane Sandy destroyed it all.

Unfortunately, the NJEDA has DENIED our application for the Stronger NJ Business Grant … we did not have a minimum of $25,000 in gross receipts to qualify.  How could a new business that was only open for three months do that?  Doesn’t make much sense does it?

You can help with a donation of any amount.  One dollar from many people will enable us to rebuild and reopen …

Donate $25.00 and we will send you a package of Gert’s Thai Coconut Chili Relish.

Donate $125.00 and you’ll be entered into our Spice of the Month Club.  A different spice combination and recipes every month for an entire year.
